Apple will release a beta version of Apple Intelligence in China later in October, executive chairman Tim Cook confirmed in an interview in Shanghai on October 15. Cook said the initial features and the associated Alibaba Qwen models had received regulatory approval.

The first batch will include live translation, writing tools and photo cleanup, while the redesigned Siri AI assistant will not be included. The announcement provides a timetable for Chinese users to test the service ahead of the December public rollout previously reported by Bloomberg. [The Paper, in Chinese]
