smart, the electric-car joint venture between Geely and Mercedes-Benz, unveiled its production smart #2 at the Paris Motor Show on October 12, bringing back the brand’s two-seater city-car format. Early ordering will begin in Europe and China, with local pricing and availability to be announced separately.

Designed by Mercedes-Benz’s global design team, the smart #2 uses a new Electric Compact Architecture platform and measures 2,746 mm long in its standard versions. The European model has a 60 kW rear-mounted motor and a 35.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, targeting a combined WLTP range of 290 km. The company says 65 kW DC charging can take the battery from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes. European specifications remain subject to final type approval.

smart also introduced a Couture Edition limited to 999 units in Europe and 999 in China. China will receive Premium and Couture Edition variants, while Europe will also offer Pure and Pure+ trims. The new car marks a return to ultra-compact urban vehicles following the brand’s expansion into larger electric models. [TechNode reporting]
