Chinese memory maker CXMT plans to launch a new generation of DDR5 registered memory modules by the end of 2026 using its 4F² DRAM architecture. President Cao Kanyu outlined the technology at an industry conference on October 10, positioning server memory as the first product application for the new architecture.
The design reduces the area occupied by each memory cell compared with the industry’s mainstream 6F² architecture, increasing storage density. It uses vertical surrounding-gate transistors and explores hybrid bonding to optimize memory cells and peripheral logic separately. CXMT has published more than 300 patent families related to the architecture.
The planned product expands CXMT’s push into server memory, where customers require reliable continuous operation. The company previously focused more heavily on consumer electronics and said contributions from its server business increased in the first half of 2026. [Yicai, in Chinese]
