Global shipments of wrist-worn devices fell 4.3% year on year to 48.01 million units in the second quarter of 2026, according to IDC. Smartwatch shipments declined 4.2% to 37.08 million units, while fitness-band shipments dropped 4.7% to 10.92 million units.

Huawei ranked first in global wrist-worn shipments, followed by Xiaomi and Apple. IDC said the market’s next phase of growth will depend on whether manufacturers can turn AI, health monitoring and new form factors into uses that give consumers a reason to replace existing devices.
