China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology plans to draft administrative regulations on end-of-life EV batteries and introduce a digital identity system to track batteries from production and use through recycling, Vice Minister Xin Guobin said on Aug. 26.
The ministry will also carry out joint enforcement campaigns to regulate battery recycling and improve traceability. China aims for the comprehensive utilization of more than 1 million metric tons of retired power batteries by 2030. [Cailian Press, in Chinese]
