Nokia is reportedly planning to close an R&D center in Hangzhou, a move that could affect around 1,600 jobs. An email screenshot cited in the report showed management informing employees about the planned closure, while possible changes to Nokia offices in Beijing, Chengdu, Qingdao and Shanghai are also under discussion.
A Nokia spokesperson said the company is aligning its China operations with its global operating model as its China business has declined in recent years.
